Minister of Foreign Affairs Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett met with Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations on Friday September 26, 2014 on the margins of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
A release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today said that their discussions focused on the continued involvement of the United Nations Secretary General in the solution of the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy.
Also discussed were issues pertaining to climate change as well as financing for development in particular, the next Conference to be held in Ethiopia in 2015, preparations for which are being co-chaired by Guyana (Ambassador George Talbot, Permanent Representative to the United Nations) and Norway, the release said.
