On Tuesday, September 16, 2013, the British High Commissioner, Andrew Ayre and wife, Bettina Ayre hosted a farewell lunch for the 2014/2015 Chevening Scholars, Roovindra Singh who will be pursuing a MSc in Structural Design and Construction Management with Sustainability at Kingston University and Joann Bond an LLM in Advanced Legislative Studies at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London.
A release from the UK High Commission said that Ayre congratulated Singh and Bond on being awarded this prestigious scholarship and wished them great success in their studies which will ultimately enable them to gain essential skills and knowledge to benefit Guyana.
He also announced that for the 2015/2016 period, the Chevening Scholarship in Guyana would be tripled to 6.
