Former Guyana Chronicle reporter Mark Bradford appeared in a city court yesterday, charged with fraudulently converting over $500,000 meant to pay expenses for an event last year.
Bradford, 45, of Lot 91 M&TC Housing Scheme, New Amsterdam, denied that during the period November 1, 2013 to December 24, 2013, at Georgetown, being solely entrusted with $525,050 to pay for music, venue and police services for a “foam party,” he converted the money for his own use, with the intent to defraud Debbie Joseph.
The charge was read to the defendant by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Bradford, who told the court that he is a freelance journalist, was subsequently granted $50,000 bail and the case was adjourned until October 31, when statements are expected to be submitted to the court.
