Visitors to the National Museum can now access its database and gather information about its collections and artifacts using modern touchscreen technology.
Three 21-inch monitors and an 84-inch monitor, which were installed as part of the Modernisation and Digitisation Project aimed at bringing the museum into the 21st Century, were unveiled yesterday.
Three of the screens are located on the upper floor of the Museum and one can be found In the Giant Sloth display area on the ground floor. At the launching yesterday, Minister of Culture Frank Anthony stated that the museum is in a “constant quest” to improve itself. In addition to the upgrade of the museum, the minister also highlighted the various workshops available for individuals who are interested in learning about history and science.
Under the $8 million digitisation project, which was awarded to contractor Digital Technology, the upgrades of the facility began in November last year and were completed on August 5 this year.
Also present at the launching yesterday were students of St Roses High, the Bishops’ High and St Gabriel’s Primary.
