Dear Editor,
I wish to publicly acknowledge the presence of the Prime Minister of Guyana, Mr Samuel Hinds, who paid me a surprise visit yesterday at my home in Cumberland, East Canje.
Mr Hinds, along with Member of Parliament, Mr Faizal M Jaffarally, stopped by to offer their deepest sympathies for the passing of my father Lloyd Suseran who died on Sunday evening at the New Amsterdam Hospital. A more humble man you would not find than our Prime Minister, who sat in my home and waited over 10 minutes since I was caught up running errands in New Amsterdam.
I could not believe turning up at my home and seeing the police vehicles as well as the Prime Minister’s vehicle on the road. He was sitting upstairs awaiting my arrival.
He shook my hand and offered his condolences while telling me that he lost his mom, too, a few years back. His father is alive, he added.
Mr Hinds has been visiting Berbice frequently over the past weeks. I have covered his numerous outreaches and events which he has hosted for the media over the past weeks.
I must also take this time to compliment him for the interest he has shown to Berbicians over the past week. As he left my house yesterday, he was greeted by several villagers and even took time to talk to some of them.
I believe our Prime Minister is like no other in the government. His ideals and attitude should therefore be emulated.
Yours faithfully,
Leon Suseran
