Starlite Generation in collaboration with Monedderlust FC will officially kick off their 2nd annual Berbice Cup knockout football tourney with an exciting doubleheader on Saturday at the Monedderlust FC ground, West Coast Berbice.
The eight team event which will feature four teams each from the Berbice and East Coast Football Associations, will be contested for over one million dollars in cash and prizes across four match days.
The teams expected to participate in the event are Rosignol United, Cougars FC, Monedderlust, Bakewell Buxton Stars, Golden Grove Golden Stars, Ann’s Grove, Victoria Kings and New Amsterdam United.
Winners of the event will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy while the runners-up will collect $300,000 and the respective title. The third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
On the individual side, prizes will be awarded for the event’s most valuable players, top goal scorer, best defender and the best goalkeeper.
Following a match past that is expected to comprise all the competing teams at 16:00hrs, the opening match of the event will witness Rosignol United facing off with Cougars FC at 18:00hrs. Defending champs Monedderlust will then faceoff with Bakewell Buxton Stars in the feature showdown at 20:00hrs.
