The Guyana Central Arya Samaj on Sunday elected a new executive committee at its biannual general meeting held at its headquarters in Prashad Nagar.
The new executive is headed by Vishnu Bandhu of West Demerara who won the presidency with 20 votes over the only other contender Kamal Dhanesar of Corentyne, Berbice who secured 14 votes. Bandhu said the committee will meet shortly to plan a work programme.
The other members of the executive committee are Muneshwar Rup, senior vice president; Amy Seedan, junior vice president; Jaidev N Dudhnath, general secretary; Satya P Balgobin and Dr Bolan Persaud will serve as joint secretaries while Vidawatee Mohabir will serve as treasurer and Aruna Lall-Chan, librarian.
The elections were conducted by former president Dr Dharam Deo Sawh who served as returning officer.
