MUMBAI, India, CMC- Indian batsman Rohit Sharma will miss the limited overs leg of the home series against West Indies starting next week due to multiple injuries.
Rohit, who missed the Champions League Twenty20, was initially ruled out for four weeks, allowing him time to recover for the last two ODIs and the T20 game against West Indies.
But although his fractured finger has healed, reports suggest he will take three more weeks to recover from his shoulder injury.
Ajinkya Rahane, who scored his maiden ODI century while filling in for Rohit in England, should continue to partner Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order.
Rohit is likely to be available for the three-Test series, starting October 30, that follows the five ODIs and one-off T20.
He played only one of India’s five Tests in England and had to cut short his tour after fracturing his finger in the field during the second ODI.
West Indies play India in five ODIs, one T20 and three test matches, with the first ODI to be played on Wednesday.
