Third placed unit Sunburst Camptown crushed six placed side Georgetown Football Club (GFC) 4-0 when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) first division league continued at the Tucville Community Centre ground yesterday.
Reshawn Sandiford opened the scoring for the Campbellville based unit in the 30th minute through a right footed penalty kick conversion to the lower left hand corner, following a clumsy challenge within the area.
It would then become 2-0 12 minutes later as Anthony Sancho netted, calmly placing his right footed effort down the middle of the goal, after collecting the ball within the centre of the 18 yard box.
Sunburst Camptown would then suffer an unfortunate setback as veteran midfielder Troy Prescod was sent off in the 48th minute after picking up his second bookable offence for clipping the legs of an opposing player.
However the Bourda based side would fail to capitalise on their numerical advantage as Camptown added to their score in the 70th minute through a Devon Forde strike.
Racing into the left side of the area after latching onto a Sancho through pass, the veteran forward would place his effort under the body of the onrushing custodian into the middle of the net.
The score line would then be completed 14 minutes later as Forde netted his second, rounding the advancing keeper in a one-on-one situation before finishing to the empty net. With the win, Sunburst Camptown moved to 17 points while GFC remain on seven points.
In the earlier fixture, seventh positioned unit Flamingo FC and fourth placed outfit the Guyana Police Force played to a 1-1 draw. Trevon Thomas opened the scoring for Flamingo in the 55th minute with an audacious bicycle kick attempt.
Lurking within the centre of the area, the lanky Thomas would rise four feet off the ground to unleash a superb right footed overhead kick into the top left hand corner, after pouncing on a loose clearance by the Police backline.
The Lawmen would eventually level proceedings in the 70th minute through a Junior Gordon penalty kick conversion to the lower left corner, after being awarded the spot kick following a foul within the left side of the area.
Due to the draw, Flamingo moved to seven points while GPF moved to 12 points.
