A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) continued its demand today for President Donald Ramotar to name a date for the holding of local government elections in Guyana. A contingent of protesters headed by the Leader of the Opposition, David Granger, this morning picketed outside of the Office of the President.
A release from APNU said it demands that the President desists from pretending to desire elections but in fact stopping the holding of local government election.
APNU calls on the President to issue the ‘commencement order’ to operationalize the Local Government Commission, the release reiterated.
APNU said it will continue its protest action until its demands are met.
Blue Caps headed by its Chairman, Clinton Urling, joined APNU in its protest action and supports APNU’s call for the President to name a date for the holding of local government elections, the release added.
