The Guyana Police Force has no record of a post-mortem examination done on Camp Street prison inmate Victor Larry, who was found dead in his cell almost two months ago.
Victor Larry, 33, of Region Eight was found in his cell at approximately 7.30 am on August 10, by prison wardens. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
When contacted, acting Police Public Relations Officer, Senior Superintendent Whitney Bacchus said that the police have no record of Larry’s post-mortem examination report.
Several unsuccessful attempts were made to contact Director of Prisons Welton Trotz. On all occasions this newspaper was told that he was out of office. Following allegations of Larry being denied medical attention after lodging complaints of feeling unwell to prison wardens, Trotz during a previous interview, dismissed the allegation that Larry after complaining of pains, was taken to an empty infirmary. He called that allegation “wrong information.”
Until the PME report is revealed, the cause Larry’s death will not be known.
