Colin Moses King, who the police say was found with a quantity of cannabis hidden in his pants crotch, was remanded to prison yesterday after being charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
King, 27, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he denied the charge when it was read to him.
The allegation against King is that on October 4, at Stone Avenue, Camp-bellville, Georgetown, he had in his possession 54 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Inspector Stephen Telford, who served as prosecutor, stated that on the day in question the police officers were on patrol duty and spotted King, who was on a cycle and was acting in a suspicious manner.
The court heard that he was searched by the lawmen and the alleged illegal item was found in his pants crotch.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
The court was told that the accused was charged with a similar offence before as well as with the offence of abduction.
As a result, Magistrate Azore informed King that he would be remanded to prison until October 13 when his matter will be called again.
