A man who police say was found with bags of cannabis near the GuyExpo site was yesterday admitted to $75,000 bail after denying the charge.
The charge against Eaton George, 45, who appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts,
states that on October 4, at the Sophia Exhibition Centre, he had 10 grammes of cannabis in his possession.
George denied the charge when it was read to him.
The prosecution’s case is that the police were on duty outside the Sophia Exhibition Centre when they observed the accused acting in a suspicious manner.
The court heard from Prosecutor Stephen Telford that the defendant was as a result approached by the lawmen, who searched him and unearthed 10 transparent plastic bags concealed in his right boot in which the illegal items were found.
He was later arrested.
The unrepresented George, who gave his address as 9&10 Rosemary Lane, Tiger Bay, begged the court for lenience.
He was granted $75,000 bail and ordered to make his next court appearance on October 27.
