Dear Editor,
Two frequent writers on the subject of animals deal with dogs, cats, turtles and other ‘protected’ wild animals. However, the question is should we not be interested in the welfare of all animals including monkeys, cows, pigs, birds, etc?
There are adequate studies to show that animals have strong emotional feelings and may indeed have a soul, in fact at least one religion preaches this.
I would like to ask your two frequent contributors what they feel about the killing of animals for food, in particular cows, chickens, pigs, etc. There are some people in the world known to eat domesticated animals, which has raised the ire of those who traditionally do not eat these. So the question is, are some animals holier than others?
Yours faithfully,
Lilian Behari
