Barama Company Limited on Tuesday presented bursary awards to five successful Grade Six candidates whose parents are employees of the company.
A release from the company said that in his remarks, the new CEO of Barama, Thomas Apun urged the students to always persevere and never give up irrespective of their backgrounds.
Chief Education officer Olato Sam stressed the need to continuously raise the standards of education in Guyana. The release said that he lauded Barama for the consistent support towards education and the children of Guyana. The ceremony also featured a donation of plywood towards the production of chalkboards to the Soesdyke Secondary and a quantity of books to augment the existing library at the St. Mary’s Primary School.
