Subscribers to Digicel’s data services experienced disruptions over two days last week and some who were promised compensation have complained that they were yet to receive it.
The initial outage lasted for almost half a day on Thursday and, in a post on its Facebook page, Digicel said “all data related services” were down due to “problems with data connectivity.”
The company stated that its technicians were working to resolve the issue and it was in the process of compensating customers. It said it would send text messages concerning compensation.
The service was restored on Thursday but was fluctuating again on Friday and some subscribers complained of another disruption.
When contacted Communi-cations Manager of Digicel Guyana Vidya Bijlall-Sanichara was unable to state the cause of the disruption and how many customers were affected. However, a source at Digicel said that maintenance works which were being carried out could have caused the disruption.
Service was back to normal yesterday.
