Eon Ford, the Bourda Market greens charged with the attempted murder of a friend, was again refused bail when he made a second court appearance yesterday.
Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick requested that city magistrate Fabayo Azore set another date for the hearing since he needed more time to thoroughly review the case.
The magistrate refused to entertain an attempt by Ford’s attorney, Mark Conway, to secure bail for his client.
After Ford learnt that he would not be granted bail, he was heard uttering to persons sitting in the public gallery that they will have to go to the High Court, at which point he was silenced by the court’s orderly.
Ford, 35, of Robb Street, Bourda, was not required to plead to the indictable charge on last Friday when he was arraigned. The charge against him was that on October 8, on Robb Street, Bourda, he wounded Joseph Adams with the intent to commit murder.
The court heard that on the day in question the two friends were consuming alcohol when a misunderstanding occurred between them, which ended with Adams being stabbed in the abdomen.
Stabroek News had been told that Adams, 53, was stabbed to the abdomen as he attempted to break up a fight between two persons around 9pm last Wednesday. He was admitted into the male surgical ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital early Thursday, after hours of surgery. Doctors had a hard time removing the long blade that was lodged the middle of his stomach.
Ford’s next court hearing is October 27.
