Mechanic Leon Ramroop, who is accused of having live ammunition at his home without a licence, was yesterday remanded to prison.
Ramroop, 30, of 178 BB Eccles New Housing Scheme pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
It is alleged that on October 10, 2014, Ramroop had four rounds of live ammunition without licence in his possession.
Attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat told the court that the rounds were indeed found in Ramroop’s room but they did not belong to him. He said his client gave the names of persons to whom the items belonged. However, according to Prosecutor Michael Grant, although the rounds were discovered in Ramroop’s room, he did not provide any names of the owners.
Bail was refused and the case was transferred to Court Two for a hearing on October 22.
