The New Amsterdam Mayor and Town Council and employees recently stepped out of their offices and joined hands with their colleagues in the field to do enhancement work along Republic Road.
This marked yet another ‘Cleanup Campaign’ initiated by the council with hopes it will take root and grow. This particular campaign is aimed at sensitising residents of the town to the importance of maintaining a clean, tidy and healthy environment.
Deputy Mayor Harold Debydeen in an invited comment said, “Recently I spoke about the environment and I asked the people of the town to clear their surroundings and care the gift that they’ve got. The earth gives us everything we want; we have sustainability from the earth and we are doing our part by cleaning the Republic Road.” Debydeen added that the council “will continue to do cleaning within the township” and made a special appeal to the
