Assistant Commissioner of National Registration (ACNR) Nolan Jervis took the oath of office at a simple ceremony held in the Chambers of Chief Justice (Ag) Ian Chang on Tuesday.
This ceremony follows Jervis’s appointment as ANCR on September 22 by Gecom, a press release said.
Gecom in a release said that Jervis brings significant experience to his new position as ANCR, having been employed with Gecom since 2005 as a Registration Officer attached to the East Bank Demerara Registration Office. While at that office, he was primarily responsible for the conduct of registration within his registration area of responsibility.
Jervis holds a BSc in Business Management (distinction) and a post graduate diploma in Development Studies, both from the University of Guyana. “Mr Jervis has both the experience and the qualifications for the position of ANCR to which he has been appointed,” Gecom said.
Gecom further said that Jervis’s appointment followed a rigorous and transparent recruitment and selection process which started with the vacancy being advertised in the media, followed by the vetting and shortlisting of applicants, interviews conducted by a panel comprising members of the commission, the chairman and chief election officer.
