Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Everest Cricket Club on Saturday recorded victories in their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ Banks Malta Supreme Under-13 matches at the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) ground.
In the first game which started at 9:30am, DCC defeated Malteenoes Sport Club (MSC) by 95 runs while in the second game which commenced at 1:30pm, Everest got past Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by 63 runs.
DCC batted first and reached 224-2 off their allotted 25 overs with Sachin Singh and Dwayne Dick being the top scorers with 13 and 11 runs respectively. Bowling for MSC Shaquile Charles and S. Sankar, younger brother of national youth player Steven Sankar, claimed a wicket each.
In pursuit of their target, MSC were restricted to 129-8 with only Wayne Bollers (15) reaching double figures. Daniel Mootoo (3-11) and Alfeie Henry (2-8) were the chief wicket takers for DCC.
The final scores read, DCC 244 but 20 runs were subtracted due to the loss of two wickets while MSC reached 209 but 80 runs were subtracted because they lost eight wickets.
Meanwhile, spearheaded by Hariel Tilku’s all-round performance, Everest gained a win over GCC.
GCC took first strike and were restricted to 147 while Everest responded with a total of 210. For GCC, Sanjay Persaud (13) and Yohance Angoy (10) were the main contributors while Yeneistir Persaud and Tilku were the principal scorers for Everest with 13 and 10 runs respectively.
In the bowling department, Tilku (3-4) and Vishaul Persaud led the way for Everest while Zackery Jodah (4-11) and Rivaldo Phillips were the chief wicket takers for GCC.
GCC suffered 13 dismissals while Everest was affected by 11. In total, GCC reached 277 while Everest made 320.
