A gold miner is missing and his family, fearing the worst, is seeking any word on his whereabouts.
Troy Greenidge, 27, of John Fernandes Housing Scheme, went missing seven days ago.
According to his mother, Seeta Persaud, Greenidge left home at 7:30am on
Wednesday October 15, to collect his salary from the owner of the company he worked with in the interior.
Persaud said after her son did not return home on Wednesday evening, she started contacting relatives and friends to inquire whether they had seen him. A cousin that Persaud informed her that Greenidge had visited his Agricola residence at 8pm. It was the last place he was seen. “I even visit all the station to see if he locked up,” the woman noted, “but he wasn’t anywhere.”
A formal report about his disappearance was made on Saturday at the Providence Police Station, she said and the police have since informed her that they are investigating.
However, Persaud said she believes that her son was kidnapped and is called on his captor/s to release him. She was, however, unable to explain the reason she had reached this conclusion. “Just take him to a police station or something… I want my son,” she declared.
When asked whether her son had any enemies, the woman said she cannot state, since she does not interact with her son’s friends.
Greenidge, a father of a two-year-old and an expectant father of another child, was last seen wearing a blue jersey and a three quarter black pants. Anyone with information that will lead to Greenidge can contact relatives on 609-2304 or the nearest police station.
