It will be a battle of the juices when Fruta Conquerors battle Sunburst Camptown in the second round of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Stag Beer first division league today at the Tucville Community ground.
Calvin Allen, coach of Fruta Conquerors during an invited comment said “Presently Camptown lie in third place and they would have had to play some kind of football to be there. What we are going to do is focus on our strengths and what we have been doing for the past 12 games and try and get our game together.
“Once we execute our game plan we will come out victorious. We have to try and exploit the fact that Camptown is not fully fit and also take advantage of the inexperienced players in their squad and build from there,” he added.
Made to work in their 1-0 win over the youthful GFC side, the second positioned Fruta
Conquerors unit will aim to pull level on points with Pele when they faceoff with the third ranked Campbellville side at 20:00hrs.
Suspended from the GFC fixture due to the accumulation of cards, the duo of Dwayne Lawrence and Jermaine Junior will return to lead the Conquerors frontline along with Eon Alleyne and Kevin Barrow in attempt to secure the vital three points come opening whistle.
However, Camptown will have their sights set on a different outcome. With the league title mathematically out of their contention, the Campbellville unit will hope to play spoilers to their arch-rivals championship ambitions.
Brushed aside by the league leaders Pele 4-0 in their earlier fixture, Sunburst Camptown will attempt to get back to winning ways and will rely on the likes of Reshawn Sandiford, Troy Prescod, Devon Forde and Anthony Sancho to power them to victory.
In the opening affair at 18:00hrs, fifth positioned side the Guyana Police Force (GPF) will lock horns with.
