The police file on investigations into threats allegedly made by Kaieteur News publisher Glenn Lall to Guyana Revenue Authority head Khurshid Sattaur has been returned to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the Guyana Police Force said yesterday.
The force was responding to a news report in the Guyana Times under the heading “Glenn Lall’s alleged threats to Sattaur”. The article stated that the police were yet to charge Lall despite the submission of the DPP’s advice to the police.
In a press release yesterday, the Force clarified that “the DPP has so far not advised that any charge be made in the matter. The file was returned
to the police by the DPP for some issues to be clarified”. The release said that the requested clarifications were made and the file was returned to the DPP yesterday.
Stabroek News checked with the DPP’s office and was able to confirm that the file is indeed there.
Sattaur had filed an official police report in August after Lall reportedly issued threats via telephone. The threats surround Lall’s reported involvement in a remigrant duty-free scam. Lall, his wife and a remigrant couple have since been arraigned before the court on tax evasion related charges.
