Lovers of the indoor sport of dominoes will swing into action today when Strikers Sports Club in collaboration with Mark “Jumbie” Wiltshire Organising secretary of the Georgetown Dominoes Association, invite domino teams to the Champion of Champions warm up match today at the Strikers Sports Club, Meadowbrook Drive.
The competition which starts at 3:00p.m today is open to the first 15 teams that register. Each team must pay an entry fee of S10, 000.
The team that wins the competition will be rewarded with $90, 000 while the second and third place finishers will receive $40,000 and $20,000 respectively.
Participants will be entertained by Stitchie Vibyz Machine during the course of the event. The event is being sponsored by Big Boss Trucking Service, Dynasty Sports Club, Patterson and Patterson Associates and Compu Designs Services. Wiltshire is also set to stage the Champion of Champions part two dominoes extravaganza tomorrow and Saturday at 1223 Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt. This competition is open only to teams that have won finals in competition this year. The teams are T& T, Mix Up R & R, Au Seasons, Rage, Scramblers, Specialists, C7, Delta Force, Providence, Assassins, Spartans, Pacesetters, Transport and Thunder Phantom. There will be five guest teams in Gangsters, F and H Strikers, YK6, Orko, KTS and 58 Boutique.
Entrance fee is $15000 a team and the winning team will receive $175,000, a trophy and nine medals while the second placed team will receive $80,000 and a trophy. The team placing third will receive $40,000 and a trophy donated by Faye Joseph. This competition is sponsored by Golyn and Sons.And, in another domino activity, “Cody”, “Poison” and “Fox” are set to host their annual “Sizzling” Bar-B-Que and back in time after lunch lime November month end.Chicken, Fish, Pork and a variety of wild meat are among the variety of meats that will be on sale at the Aubrey Barker Road Dynasty Sports Club Venue.Music will be provided by the popular Stereo Sonic sound system and Stitchie Vibes Machine. Patrons will be admitted free.
