Following the Banks Sevens and the Golden Brook/Windjammer/Toney’s Sevens league, the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has shortlisted a squad of standouts on a quest to regain the NACRA 7s Championship in Mexico in December. The squad of 28 local and eight foreign players is a mix of familiar and not so familiar faces in the rugby arena. According to a release from the union, training days will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 16:30 hours and Sundays from 09:00 hours.
The players were shortlisted at a selectors’ meeting on October 20 which was attended by Shane Grant-Stuart, Laurie Adonis and John Lewis. The names of the local shortlisted are as follows: Theo Henry, Carl Lewis, Kevon David, Akeem Fraser, O’Neal Charles, Mark Sobers, Avery Corbin, Dwayne Schroeder, Jermaine Prowell, Wayne King, Wayne Hudson, Ryan Gonsalves, Leon Greaves, Jason Tyrell, Christopher Singh, Filon Thompson, Rickford Cummings, Troy Bascom, Blaise Bayley, Jason DeFreitas, Edward Roach, Rondell McArthur, Godfrey Broome, Ryan Dey, Lance Adonis, Osei McKenzie and Frank Joseph.
