Cyclists will be back on their saddles on Saturday on the National Park’s circuit competing for lucrative cash incentives when the Roraima Bikers Club collaborates with Humphrey’s Bakery and Farm Products to stage the 17th annual Troy Humphrey Memorial event.
The which comes on the heels of the grueling 266-mile, five-stage road race that concluded on Sunday,
will see the cream of the nation’s best wheelsmen going saddle to saddle in eight races.
Action starts at 09:30hrs.
On Saturday, the Category 1-3 30-lap race will be the feature attraction. The sum of 10 sprint prizes will be up for grabs, while the first six finishers will be handsomely rewarded.
National cyclist, who placed fourth overall in the five-stage race will be looking for a vital rebound when he saddles up to defend his title.
However, with the likes of five-stage winner, Robin Persaud, national riders, Alanzo Greaves, Raynauth Jeffrey, Hamzah Eastman, Geron Williams, Michael Anthony and others, Williams will have his hands full.
Other races carded for the day include: Win and Out (three laps), Mountain Bikes (five laps), BMX Open (three laps), Juveniles (10 laps), juniors and Category 4 (20 laps), Veterans U-50 (five laps) and Veterans O-50 (five laps).
The first three finishers in the above events will take home with prizes.
As customary, the family members of the late Humphrey will distribute the prizes upon the programme’s completion.
