The 17th annual Troy Humphrey Memorial cycle race which was set to take place today has been rescheduled to a later date.
According to a release from the organisers of the event, the Roraima Bikers Club (RBC), the event will now be held this Saturday at the same venue.
The release from president of RBC Brian Allen, stated that the decision to reschedule the meet was as a result of the club’s inability to secure the National Park venue.
“We were informed this morning that the National Park would be used for the distribution of the $10,000 Education Grants (approx. 5000), and this was scheduled from 900hrs – 1400hrs,” Allen said in a press release.
“After a brief meeting with management of the National Park this morning (yesterday morning), it was decided to reschedule the event in the interest of the safety of the cyclists and the crowd that is expected to converge at the National Park,” he added.
