Umami Incorporated, an agro-processing facility from the East Coast Demerara, on Friday donated a number of items to the victims of devastating Diwali night fire in Lusignan in which at least 10 persons lost their homes.
Those affected were Shanta Motilall and her family, Deomattie Ramrattan and her family and Diram Khanaye and family, including an 11-month-old baby and a two-year-old.
Umami donated two brand new double beds and a month’s supply of groceries to the families. Present during the simple presentation were members of the Guyana Relief Council, which also contributed mattresses and basic food items.
In a press release, Umami Inc’s Director Chanchal Persaud stated that Umami has the value of community embedded into its mission so it has decided to engage the affected individuals and to assist and ensure that the families are comfortable enough during this difficult time.
