Last year’s runners-up West Ruimveldt Primary booked their berth in the quarterfinal round, downing Ketley Primary 2-0 when the round of 16 stage of the Petra Organization/Courts Pee football tourney commenced yesterday at the Thirst Park venue.
Michael Oie opened the scoring in the second minute with a simple finish down the centre of the goal, after collecting a pass from Jason Persaud in the centre of the penalty box.
The result would then be sealed in the 10th minute as Persaud found the back of the net with a powerful strike into the right hand corner, from inside the area.
Defending champs St. Pius continued their successful run by crushing Green Acres by a 5-1 margin. Raymond Austin led the champs with a double in the first and 32nd minutes.
He was supported by Youhan Yarris, Sherwin Nelson and Brendon Solomon who scored in the seventh, 12th and 27th minutes respectively.
On target for the losers was Lebron Wickham in the 39th minute.
