Assuria insurance company and the Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) recently signed an agreement to provide teachers who are members of the union with a multiple insurance protection, multiple discount plan policy.
“We always seek initiatives that combine the pursuit of cutting edge ideas with creating opportunities for our customers,” Yogindra Arjune, acting general manager of Assuria Guyana said. Since the company opened in Guyana the public has received “new and innovative products” including two country insurance plans which provide free motor insurance coverage in Suriname once a customer has a policy in Guyana, Arjune said in a press release.
GTU president Mark Lyte said the union is pleased to have established an agreement which provides affordable insurance coverage for teachers. “This agreement is unique since it allows teachers to gain coverage at special rates for health, eye care, fire and vehicular insurance. Teachers can now pay for these insurances on a monthly basis rather than having to source all funds at once,” he said.
Lyte further noted that teaching has become a high stress occupation and the policy with Assuria now ensures that teachers do not have to depend only on NIS for health benefits. He encouraged all teachers to take advantage of the package as “much thought and scrutiny was put into this agreement, which each teacher stands to gain once they capitalize on the offer.”
