Quincy “Biggie” Small younger brother of former World boxing champion Wayne “Big Truck Braithwaite Saturday night dodged a barrage of aggressive jabs and punches to win his 91 kg and over bout against Jason “AK47” Barker.
Small, who was more tactical in his approach during the fight survived an early assault in the first round to silence the crowd and win the encounter by a unanimous decision on the penultimate night of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) National Open Competition at California Square, East Ruimveldt.
In what was dubbed the ‘best fight’ of the night, Nankumar Singh, who represented the Republican Gym,
triumphed over his GDF counterpart Claymond Gibson in their 60 kg matchup.
The clash of the Smiths was also an entertaining battle and ended with Glenroy who represented Essequibo defeating Ron.
In the 15th bout the Guyana Police Force boxer Dennis Thomas defeated Kevin Rodney in 2 minutes and 58 seconds of the first round in their 75kg battle.
However, that was not the fastest knock out of the night, as the next bout ended in a minute and 54 seconds of the first round when Desmond Amsterdam of GDF won against Republican Delon Gordan.
