Accused of impersonating another person for the purpose of obtaining a car, a man was yesterday released on $100,000 bail.
The charge against Hemchand Outar is that on October 16, at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, he impersonated Anil Singh with intent to fraudulently obtain motor car PSS 3107 from Seedat Sooklall.
The man denied the charge when it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry before whom he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Prosecutor Michael Grant told the court that the facts were as stated in the charge and no further details of what transpired on the day in question were presented.
The prosecutor had no objections to Outar being admitted to bail, which was set at $100,000. The case was transferred to the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court for November 21.
