A 13-year-old boy, who was stabbed to his temple by a classmate yesterday morning is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), while his alleged attacker is in police custody.
Injured is Sean La Rose of Cummings Lodge Secondary School and a resident of Plaisance, who relatives said was involved in a scuffle with another student sometime before 9 am.
Mary Moniz, La Rose’s mother, told Stabroek News that she received a call from the school that her son was involved in a fight and was subsequently injured. She said when she saw her son he had a screwdriver stuck in the side of his head about two inches deep. She added that the tool was surgically removed and an x-ray and CT scan were ordered.
However, Moniz said that she will receive the results today. She said her son remained in hospital and his condition was stable.
The woman expressed disappointment at the students who encouraged the fight between the two boys. According to her, the incident sparked from one teasing the other.
Statements have since been taken from both La Rose and the other student accused of inflicting the injuries.
