Lennox Braithwaite defied inclement weather and poor lighting conditions to win last Sunday’s Recorded Shoot at the Timehri Rifle and Pistol ranges.
The competitors found the going tough against adverse weather but the reigning Caribbean individual champion dropped just two points to win the match with an overall score of 148 points with 12 V-bulls to win the X Class Grand Aggregate from a grand aggregate of 150 points with 30 Vs.
Braithwaite shot a possible 50 points with 6 V-bulls at 600 yards and recorded scores of 49.3 at 300 yards and 49.3 at 900 yards on his way to victory.
National vice-captain Dylan Fields also recorded 148 points but he had 11 Vs with scores of 49.2 at 300 yards, 50.4 at 600 and 49.5 at 900 yards.
The current national champion Ransford Goodluck who was the winner of the previous competition finished in the third spot with 146 points and 10 Vs with scores of 47.2 at 300 yards, 49.4 at 600 yards and 30.4 at 900 yards. Leo Romalho placed fourth with 144.11 (49.6, 49.5 and 40.0).
Peter Persaud topped the competition in ‘O’ Class with 127 points and 9 Vs.
He shot 45.3 at 300 yards, 50.5 at 600 yards and 32.1 at 900 yards to be into second position Sherwin Felicien who ended with 122.10 (45.6, 46.3 and 31.1) while Chaflin Velloza shot 107.2 with scores of 42.1, 39.1 and 26.0.
Inspector Dane Blair and Colin Loncke were also in action as they fine tune preparations for the National Senior and Junior Championships which will fire off on Saturday at Timehri starting at 10:00 hours.
