A fisherman was yesterday charged with the murder of Lakeram Singh, 53, in the Whim Magistrate’s court.
Elton Lilley, 44, of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh and was not required to plead to the indictable charge. He is expected to return to court on the 14th of November, 2014.
An autopsy on Singh called ‘David’ and ‘Dafat’ of Lot 13 Fyrish Village, Corentyne stated that he died from shock and haemorrhage due to stab wounds to his heart and lungs. The examination was performed at the Anthony’s Funeral Home Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice.
The fishermen were drinking at a shop opposite the #66 Fisheries, Corentyne when the fatal altercation erupted.
