Dear Editor,
I applaud the police ranks of the Reliance Police Station at East Canje for responding in less than ten minutes to a break-and-enter reported in the wee hours of Wednesday. Several ranks turned up in the vehicle at the Cumberland, Canje location promptly after the telephone call was made. It should be noted though that a call first to 911 was met by the request to telephone the Reliance Station, which I did afterwards. My question then is what is the purpose of the 911 service if they are going to ask you to make another call to your local police station?
Again, kudos to the police ranks who turned up and scared the bandits away. Much negativity is spread about our police, I just thought I’d mention this particular instance when they should be congratulated. Now, it’s just for them to catch the perpetrators who are still at large.
Yours faithfully,
Leon Suseran
