The Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Stag Beer Futsal tournament will officially kick off tomorrow at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH), Mandela Avenue with eighth fixtures.
The event which is slated to feature 16 clubs competing in an initial group format, will be contested for over $1 million in cash and prizes. The competing teams are Georgetown Football Club (GFC), Pele, Northern Rangers, Fruta Conquerors, Riddim Squad Western Tigers, Santos FC, Alpha United, Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Renaissance FC Flamingo FC, Black Water FC, Guyana Police Force (GPF), Houston Stars FC and Black Pearl.
On conclusion of the group stage, the top finishers in each group will progress to the knock-out round. Group-A will feature Fruta Conquerors, Western Tigers, Flamingo FC and Black Pearl while group-B will consist of Beacons FC, Alpha United, GDF and Renaissance FC.
Group-C will be made up of the GFC, Pele, Northern Rangers and Riddim Squad whilst group-D will contain the GPF, Santos FC, Black Water FC and Houston Stars FC.In the opening fixture, Fruta Conquerors will face-off against Black Pearl at 7pm while GDF will take aim at Renaissance FC at 7.30pm. At 8pm, GFC will battle Riddim Squad FC while GPF will oppose Houston Stars from 8.30pm.
Beacons FC will then battle Alpha United at 9pm while Black Water will tackle Santos FC from 9.30pm. The two fixtures of the night will witness Northern Rangers engaging Pele FC at 10pm and Flamingo FC battling Western Tigers at 10.30pm.
