Shanella Webster is one of four players who excelled at the Lusignan Golf Course (LGC) on Saturday, exactly a week before the commencement of the Guyana Open International Golf Tournament.
Webster along with Mahendra Bhagwandin, Bridgelal Harry and Sunil Loutan dominated their field at the LCG’s Invitational. After topping the ladies’ category, champion Webster simply gave the honours to her coach Dr Philbert London. “He continues to push me to greater expectations and performances. My golfing today was evidence of his excellent coaching!” she said. Winner of the championship flight – the 0-9 handicap flight – veteran Sunil Loutan was very pleased with his performance and warned his competitors to look out for him next week at the Guyana Open. Meanwhile, Bhagwandin and Harry won the 19-28 and 10-18 flights respectively.
Captain of the LCG Chen Deo was pleased with the competitiveness shown by the 38 players, stating he was excited to see local golfers competing strongly among themselves. He hoped that they would display the same level of play against any visitors in the upcoming international Guyana Open Tournament set for the weekend.
