The Ministry of Education has remembered the late presidential advisor Navin Chandarpal as a person who embraced the sciences.
In a press release, the ministry extended condolences to the family and colleagues of Chandarpal, who died on Tuesday morning.
It said Chandarpal was very instrumental in the development of its Science programme. He served as Convenor to the Science Policy working Group (2010-2011), which was tasked with updating the existing Science and Technology Policy and the preparation of a framework. Chandarpal also played a pivotal role in the re-establishment of the National Science and Technology Council for Guyana.
Chandarpal embraced the Science Unit. He was also instrumental in ensuring that Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education was included in the new Ministry of Education Strategic Plan (2014-2018) which focuses on the use of STEM Education for National Sustainable Development.
