The businessman who was attacked and robbed earlier this week at his Prospect, East Bank Demerara home, is calling on the police to speed up their investigation as he is living in fear.
Kalicharran Surujpaul yesterday complimented the police for doing a very good job. However, he is hoping that the other suspects—the police caught one—would be captured soon as his family is still traumatized over the events that took place on the morning he was robbed. He said that since the police managed to capture only one of the three suspects he is being extremely careful.
“Imagine you sleeping and someone wake you up with a hammer lash to your head, then tie you up? These men were serious,
but only one got caught. Two more out there somewhere. I nah must frighten?” businessman asked rhetorically yesterday, his eye still bloodshot from the battering he received.
Commander of ‘A’ Division Clifton Hicken a few days ago related that police had managed to capture one of the three suspects and some articles were also recovered. In a recent conversation, the commander said police are still investigating and will not stop until these persons are caught.
Surujpaul had returned from a wedding sometime around 23:00 hrs on Sunday and decided to sleep downstairs.
He was awakened sometime around 3 am the next day to the realization that there were intruders in his house. Three armed men had gained access by removing sections of a window. He was struck several times to his head with a hammer and was tied up. As the bandits were exiting the yard they were confronted by the police resulting in one of the alleged perpetrators being caught.
