A St Maarten-based Guyanese was shot in his head in what family say was an armed robbery on Friday night at a restaurant in Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
Patrick Mohan, 46, who was staying at Bellevue West Coast Berbice, was shot around 8.30 pm while he was purchasing food at a restaurant.
He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he underwent an emergency surgery.
A relative told Stabroek News that Mohan had returned to Guyana with his wife for her sister’s funeral.
The relative stated that the funeral was scheduled for today.
She said she was at home when her aunt called her and told her that a bandit shot him.
She said they were told it was a robbery.
Mohan was discharged from the hospital and taken to a private hospital late yesterday afternoon, after he underwent a second surgery.
According to a police press release, a man armed with a fireman approached Mohan and shot him to his head and escaped in a waiting vehicle.
Police investigation is ongoing.
