Tournament hosts Colts as well a fellow Georgetown side Trinity Grid Holdings Pacesetters and Linden unit Victory Valley Royals all recorded opening night victories when the third edition of the Phillip George Legacy Basketball tourney commenced on Saturday.
Played at the Burnham Basketball Court on Carmichael and Middle Streets, Colts crushed Patriots 99-64 while Pacesetters dismantled Berbice unit Rockers 99-61 and Royals defeated Knights 74-63.
Dave Causway led the offence for Colts in the feature matchup as he netted 24 points. He was assisted by Shane Webster, Rayon Cummings and Quacy Lindo who shot their way to 21, 18 and 12 points correspondingly.
Registering a game-high 26 points in the loss was Floyd Arthur while Sherlon Legal and Ashton Adams scored 20 and 12 points correspondingly.
In the Pacesetters and Rockers showdown, Travis Burnette lead Pacesetters with 30 points while Travis Williams, Michael Turner and Randy Richardson supported with 14, 12 and 10 points respectively.
Neil Wills was the main scorer for the Berbice side as he netted 23 points. He was assisted by Jason Fraser who netted 14 points. In the Royals and Knights fixture, Harold Adams was the main scoring threat for the victors as he recorded 26 points.
Contributing 12 and 10 points were Chris Williams and Marlon Pollydore respectively. Jacob Lowe and Omadele Phillips netted 13 and 10 points respectively in the loss. On a negative note, the fourth match of the day between Ravens and Nets was rescheduled due to rain.
A date for the playing of the fixture is expected to be announced shortly.
