A Barnwell woman lost her life after she was hit from behind by a motor car while walking along the Mocha Access Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Friday evening.
Dead is Carol Overton-Dawson, 44, of lot 152 Barnwell North squatting area, EBD.
According to the dead woman’s husband, Warren Dawson, she was on her way home, when a car struck her from behind. Her mother, Jean Overton, added that she was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre in an unconscious state. However, she added that her daughter was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
A police press release stated that the police are investigating the fatal accident which occurred at 20:30h on Friday, at Mocha Access Road, EBD.
The release further mentioned that investigations revealed that Overton-Dawson was walking along the roadway when she was struck down by the car. She was taken to the GPH where she was pronounced dead.
Overton-Dawson is mourned by her husband and four children and mother. Her mother said she would have celebrated her 45th birthday on November 26.
The driver of the motor vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
