Two men who were allegedly held with quantities of cocaine at a known drug yard were yesterday remanded to prison.
Quacy Oudkerk and Damion Carter both pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when they appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in Georgetown.
The charge against Oudkerk stated that on November 6, at Kitty Railway Embankment, he had in his possession 2.5 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. The charge against Carter stated that on the same day at the same address he was in possession of 5 grammes of cocaine.
Prosecutor Simone Payne objected to the men being granting bail due to the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.
According to Payne, police, acting on information, went to a known drug yard, where the two accused were present. She said a search was conducted on their person by the officers and uncovered the narcotics, resulting in the arrest of both men.
Magistrate Azore refused bail to both men and set their next court date in December.
