Odinga Chase, accused of robbing a woman in a North Ruimveldt home invasion, was remanded to prison yesterday after being arraigned on two counts of armed robbery.
It is alleged that on September 10, Chase of 169 East Ruimveldt, along with another, armed with a gun, robbed Sheniza Dass of a generator, valued $350,000, belonging to Shawn Archibald. It is also alleged on the same day Chase also robbed Dass of $30,000 cash.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges when they were read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry in Georgetown.
According to Prosecutor Michael Grant, Dass was at home at about 4pm when Chase and another man walked into her house through an open front door. Chase pointed a gun to her head while his accomplice took the generator and cash and they both made good their escape. The attack was reported and he was charged. Grant also told the court that Dass knew Chase for three years.
The prosecutor objected to bail based on the nature, gravity and prevalence of the offence and Chase was subsequently remanded to prison until November 28.
