A cyclist was killed instantly after he was run over by a truck fetching building materials on the East Bank Demerara at Sarah Johanna.
Dead is Ramdoolar Dhanraj called `Eddie’ of Pearl, East Bank Demerara. Reports are that the man was heading home around 5.30 pm when the truck which was heading in direction of the city struck him down. A resident said that the truck driver may have been overtaking when the accident occurred.
The man related that when he arrived at the scene the Dhanraj’s mangled bicycle was lying in the grass while his badly crushed body was nearby.
The body is at the Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
