GWI amps-up ‘Free Pass’ campaign

The Guyana Water Incor-porated (GWI) has intensified its ‘Free Pass’ countrywide programme to encourage more disconnected customers to reconnect their service free of charge.

GWI Free Pass allows customers who were disconnected or illegally connected to reconnect their service without paying the usual penalty fee, the company said in a press release. Customers with illegal service connections can also regularize their service without paying tampering fees.

The company’s ‘Comm-unity Connect’ initiative will include house-to-house visits by its customer services teams and information desks with be strategically placed at NDC offices and popular locations such as schools, community centres and supermarkets countrywide. Customers can also utilise the ‘Community Connect’ activities to pay bills, query their accounts, report leaks and sign up for GWI’s wallet-friendly payment plans.

Customer Services Manager Jeanette Thomas said the response to the Free Pass promotion has been encouraging. “Hundreds of customers country-wide have already signed up.

However, we are urging every customer who can benefit from the programme to visit our offices or talk with our Customers Services teams before we commence our country-wide disconnection campaign on December 1,” she said.

Community Connect will be held in Blueberry Hill, Linden on Wednes-day; at Good Hope Esse-quibo on November 14; at Yarowkabra, Canefield and Timehri between Novem-ber 10-28; at Cane Grove Mahaica NDC Office on November 14; at Crabwood Creek, East Berbice on November 21 and in Lacytown, Georgetown on November 29.
