Muscleman Teon Sancho of Melba Lagadoue’s Fitness Zone in New Amsterdam posed and flexed his way to the overall title of Mr. Flex Night Berbice on Saturday.
Armed with meaty biceps and a well sculpted back, midsection and quads, Sancho put on a muscular show much to the approval of the packed Skeldon High School Annexe in No. 78 village, Corriverton.
After a slight delay at the beginning the action became more and more intense as bodybuilders in the five weight classes traded poses to catch the approval of the judges. By the end of the night however it was Sancho from who was awarded the overall Mr. Flex Night Berbice 2014 title. The Mr. Corriverton title was won by Anthony Baynes of Tej Mohall Gym.
Zallim Bacchus from Tej Mohall gym at Skeldon dominated the scene, winning both the Mr. Corriverton and Mr. Flex Night Berbice titles in his division. In second position was Chaitram Nagessar of the same gym, while the third spot went to Farod Mohamed of Back Centre Gym at Skeldon. In the 143-pound class Raymond Rabindranauth from House of Pain Gym easily won his class in the Mr. Flex Night Berbice. Leon Benjamin was the lone competitor in the 154-pound class while Anthony Baynes defeated a game Alex Hamilton in the heavy, over 176-pound class.
Most of the top bodybuilders from the Mr. Corriverton and Mr. Flex Night Berbice now have their eyes set upon the December 7 Flex Night event. Encouraged by the performances of their gym stalwarts on the Corentyne stage gym owners in the Berbice area have committed to getting their better athletes in tip top shape for the Flex Night showdown at the National Cultural Centre.
The Mr. Physique category will likely see representatives from Corentyne for the first time on stage, with special attention being placed upon men like Steven Bagot from Tej Mohall gym, Chaitram Nagessar and others.
The event was principally organized by Mr. Lyndon Murray, manager of Back Centre gym and judged by Mr. David Gomes, Ms. Fiona Harris and Ms. Nadina Taharally of Flex Night Incorporated. Special guest poser was Caerus Cipriani of Fitness Paradise Gym.
