The Mandela Avenue-based Basketball Club Pepsi Sonics will be staging an Open U-23 Five-a-Side Basketball tourney and three point shooting contest on Sunday at the National Gymnasium from 11:00hrs.
The events which are open to all individuals who have an affinity for the sport, will be contested for over $100,000 in cash and prizes. Winners of the team section will walk away with $50,000 while the second and third place finishers will pocket $35,000 and $20,000 respectively.
Victor of the three point shooting event will pocket $10,000. All participating basketball clubs will be allowed to enter more than one team while registration for the team tourney will cost $4,000 per side. The deadline for registration for both events is on or before the commencement of the events.
